How to onboard with I-REC(E) with EMS

To get started with I-REC(E), please follow these standard steps:

1. Explore the I-REC(E) Information Page:

  • Begin by visiting the I-REC(E) Information page to review all the necessary details.
  • Familiarise yourself with the roles available within I-REC(E) and the requirements of delivering them.
  • Download the Customer Onboarding pack and read through the material provided.
  • Confirm that your Facilities (Generation) meets the requirements be onboarded and that they you can provide the required evidence to claim RECs.

2. Documentation Submission:

Fill out the required forms in the Onboarding packs and submit them to EMS to initiate the onboarding process.

3. Evident Portal Access:

Upon completion of your sign-up, Evident will grant you access to their portal where you can (if suitable) register your first Facility Evident Registry

4.Facility Registration:

Download the Facility Onboarding pack and complete the process

5. Claim RECs:

Use the Evident portal to make a RECs claim with the required evidence

Becoming a Registrant

To become a Registrant and submit your renewable energy projects for registration, it is first necessary to have a contract with an Issuer. The New Zealand I-REC(E) Issuer is Energy Market Services (EMS).

Due diligence checks are performed to satisfy Know Your Customer and Anti Money Laundering regulations as part of the process of providing access to the Registry. This process can take an extended period and you may be required to provide documentation to support your application.

Becoming a Participant

To become a Participant and trade or redeem I-REC(E) certificates, it is first necessary to have a contract with Evident, who provides global Registry services for Participants.

Due diligence checks are performed to satisfy Know Your Customer and Anti Money Laundering regulations as part of the process of providing access to the Registry. This process can take an extended period and you may be required to provide documentation to support your application.

Issuing REC's from an I-REC(E) registered Facility

Approved Facilities (Generation Sites) are a key requirement of operating within I-REC(E), then enable the Issuance of REC's based on the production of certified (by EMS) MWh's.
